Stack size and slot count are separate mechanics. These answers keep the common container shortcuts honest.

How many slots does a double chest have?

A double chest has 54 slots. With items that stack to 64, that is room for 3,456 items when every slot contains the same full stack.

How many items fit in a shulker box?

A shulker box has 27 slots. It can hold 1,728 items that stack to 64, 432 items that stack to 16, or 27 unstackable items.

Why do some Minecraft items stack to 16 or 1?

Stack size is an item property. Many blocks and materials stack to 64, items such as ender pearls commonly stack to 16, and tools, armor, filled shulker boxes, and other equipment are unstackable.

Does this calculator include nested shulker boxes?

The result counts the selected container directly. Choose 27 slots for one shulker box; nested storage plans should be calculated as a second step because filled shulker boxes themselves do not stack.

Minecraft storage is easiest to plan in three layers: item count, stack size, and available slots. Keep those values separate so unstackable items and 16-item stacks do not inherit 64-stack assumptions.

The arithmetic works for Java and Bedrock, but individual item stack sizes can differ by item, edition, version, or server configuration. Verify unusual items before building a large sorter.
